Urgences-sante confirmed to CTV Montreal that British actress Natasha Richardson, the wife of Irish actor Liam Neeson, was taken to the aiport where a private jet was waiting for her. She sustained an injury while skiing at Mont Tremblant.

She was taken to Ryan Sky Services at Trudeau Airport. She was taken from the hospital at 12 p.m. and her flight was scheduled to leave at 1 p.m.

There was an emergency crew with her in the ambulance.

There has not been official confirmation of the details of her condition.

There have been conflicting media reports about the state of her health. The New York Post is saying the actress is brain dead, and has been flown back to New York.

The ski resort issued a statement around 11:45 a.m. Tuesday saying the actress fell on a beginner ski hill while taking a lesson. The release said she was with an experienced instructor who immediately called the ski patrol although there were no visible signs of injury.

They brought her to the bottom of the hill and insisted she see a doctor. The instructor accompanied her to the actress' hotel room.

According to the release an hour later, Richardson said she was not feeling well and an ambulance was called.

Actor husband comes from Toronto

Neeson hurried to Montreal from a film set in Toronto to be by his wife's bedside, said a source from the set. The Toronto Star later reported that he was with her at the airport, and that he looked extremely worried.

The couple has two sons, Michael, 13 and Daniel, 12.

"Liam Neeson left the Toronto set immediately to fly to Montreal upon news of his wife's accident," a rep for his film "Chloe" said in a statement to CTV. "We do not have any details at this time but we hope for the best and our thoughts and prayers are with Natasha and Liam and their family."

IrishCentral.com and People.com report that Richardson, 45, was in critical condition with a traumatic brain injury.

A family member confirmed Richardson had had a skiing accident.

"We know that she has had an accident but we really do not know any more details," said Kika Markham, who is married to Richardson's uncle, Corin Redgrave. "We are very concerned."

Sacre-Coeur Hospital initially confirmed that a woman named Natasha Richardson was at the trauma centre, but officials later refused to comment on the reports that are making international headlines Tuesday.

Richardson has appeared in dozens of films including "The Parent Trap" and "Maid in Manhattan."

She's the daughter of actress Vanessa Redgrave.
