The ADQ will choose a new leader Oct. 18, and those interested in running for the leadership of the party have until Aug. 18 to toss their hats into the ring.

Initially, the party wasn't slated to pick a replacement for Mario Dumont until February 2010.

Three candidates have so far entered the leadership race: ric Caire, MNA for La Pltrie; Christian Lvesque, former MNA for the riding of Lvis, and former ADQ finance critic Gilles Taillon.

Grald Deltell, MNA for Chauveau, is also contemplating joining the race.

About 400 party members have gathered in Quebec City this weekend for the ADQ's general council meeting.
