A number of Greenpeace activists who were protesting outside of the Ministry of Natural Resources in Quebec City have been arrested.

Sixteen people have been arrested. A fire ladder was also on scene at 880 Chemin Saint-Foy to help police get others off the roof.

A activists chained themselves to the building on Monday morning. They were acting out against a forestry bill that they said did not go far enough to protect the boreal forests, nor the sustainability of forestry jobs.

The protesters spent the morning locked to the building by industrial-strength chains. Yellow hazard tape was taped up around the area.

CTV Montreal's John Grant said in order for the police to get involved, the owner for the building would have to show up in person, ask the protesters to leave. If they refused the police could then get involved, which they did in the early afternoon.
