An 18-year-old woman was charged Tuesday with dangerous driving causing bodily harm after a teenager fell off the trunk of a moving vehicle in Drummondville early Tuesday morning.

Four young women were sitting on the trunk of the vehicle when a 17-year-old girl fell off at the intersection of Saint-Rodolphe and Jogues, an SQ officer said.

She was taken to hospital in Trois-Rivires with a head injury. Doctors say she may not survive.

The accused, Jessica Gauthier, will return to court in Drummondville on Aug. 18.

It is the second incident reported in Quebec in recent weeks. At the beginning of July, Kevin Ducharme, 38, died a few days after falling from the roof of a moving vehicle in Dollard-des-Ormeaux.

The driver, Tommy Palliser, has been accused of a hit and run causing harm, criminal negligence and of dangerous driving.
