A 19th person died on Quebec roads during this year's construction holiday, traditionally one of the most deadly periods for car accidents in the province.

Robert Boyadjian, 26, was killed at 9:30 Saturday night after he clipped the rear bumper of a vehicle while trying to pass it on westbound Highway 20. He lost control of the vehicle at Morgan Rd. in Baie d'Urf.

Boyadjian was taken to Lakeshore General Hospital where he died of his injuries.

Witnesses told police neither speeding nor alcohol was involved in the crash, said Sret du Qubec Constable Ann Mathieu.

Mathieu said so far there have been 10 fewer deaths on Quebec highways this construction holiday as compared to that of 2008. Construction holiday ends Sunday night.

As a preventative measure, the SQ took part in thousands of operations giving out more than 10,000 tickets for speeding over the past two weeks.

Meanwhile, line-ups at the Lacolle border crossing were upwards of 20 minutes throughout the day.
