A 19-year-old man is scheduled to appear in court Monday afternoon on charges of attempted murder.

The arraignment comes after a midnight attack in a bar on Sherbrooke street East near Carignan.

Witnesses said that three men swarmed a fourth individual and stabbed him several times in the chest.

Three men, aged 19, 20 and 21, were apprehended at the scene and brought in for interrogation.

After questioning, police said that two men will face charges, but a third has been released.

"The 21-year-old gentleman will not be facing any charges," said Constable Yannick Ouimet. "The 19-year-old will face changes ... of attempted murder, and the 20-year-old will face charges of possessing a prohibited weapon at a later date."

Constable Anie Lemieux says the victim is in critical but stable condition.

"A 23-year-old man was severely injured, many injuries caused by a sharp object," said Lemieux.
