Police have arrested a man in connection with an attack Friday morning that has left one teenager clinging to life and another injured.

The young men were pummelled by two or three assailants at 1 a.m. on the corner of Sherbrooke and Paul-Pau Sts., on the eastern edge of the Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough.

Gino Gagnon, 19, was arrested at 10 p.m. Friday at his home in Repentigny. He appears in court via videoconference Saturday afternoon to face charges of aggravated assault.

Police are still looking for a 17-year-old boy. He can not be identified because he is a minor.

A third person, who is considered an important witness, is also at large, said Montreal police Const. Daniel Lacoursiere.

The 18-year-old victim is in hospital, being treated for critical head wounds. The 19-year-old victim was not seriously hurt in the attack.
