A Montreal police SWAT unit was busy on Monday evening after two men barricaded themselves inside homes in separate incidents.

A suspect who was wanted by police on several armed-robbery charges barricaded himself inside a unit on d'Aragon St just after 11 p.m.

Montreal police were forced to close off the residential street and call in the SWAT team.

Officers finally convinced the man to surrender at around 2 a.m.

Break-in

Later in the evening, the same SWAT unit also dealt with a break-in on Jolicoeur St. in which one of three robbers barricaded himself inside a unit.

Three men were arrested just before 1 a.m. when a resident called police after spotting someone breaking into his neighbour's house.

Police quickly apprehended two men as they ran out of a back door but a third man had locked himself inside the home.

The SWAT unit eventually talked him into surrendering himself.

The three men, who are between 18 and 21 years of age, will face breaking and entering charges.

The house was unoccupied at the time and there were no injuries.
