A coroner is investigating the case of four-year-old Hila Zohar, who died Wednesday after she was pulled from a Cote-St-Luc swimming pool.

Montreal police confirm that the girl died in hospital on Wednesday evening, a day after she was found unconscious in the public pool on Mackle Rd.

"It's a very sad event," said police spokeswoman Anie Lemieux.

"Investigators told me that no criminal elements came out so far and the investigation is now in the hands of the coroner's office."

A funeral was held for Zohar Thursday afternoon at Paperman & Sons funeral home.

The girl was unconscious when she was pulled from the water by a swimmer. She was revived and sent to Ste-Justine's hospital.

City officials say six lifeguards, plus a pool manager, were on duty at the time of the accident.

Witnesses told CTV News that the girl's parents were on site, but not by her side. The rules of the pool state that children under the age of seven must be with an adult at all times, even in the water.
