Police and the Canadian Coast Guard are searching for a missing Ontario boater after he failed to return home following a fishing trip on Monday.

Police said John (Jack) Levy, 79, of South Glengarry, left his home to go fishing on the St. Lawrence River at about 5:30 p.m.

Quebec police located his 22-foot white and blue pontoon boat at about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, on the Quebec side of the river, near the town of St. Zotique.

Levy is described as about six feet tall and weighs about 210 pounds. He has thinning white hair and a grey beard. He was last seen wearing beige shorts, a blue T-shirt and white running shoes.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call their local OPP detachment at 1-888-310-1122 or the Canadian Coast Guard Search and Rescue team at 1-800-463-4393.
