The Surete du Quebec has recovered the body of an elderly Ontario boater who had gone missing on St. Lawrence River.

The SQ found the body of John (Jack) Levy, of South Glengarry Township, Ont., around 11:45 a.m. Friday near Saint-Zotique, 65 kilometres west of Montreal.

Levy, 79, was reported missing on Tuesday, along with his 22-foot pontoon that was located the same day. He had left late Monday afternoon to go fishing but never returned to shore.

The Canadian Coast Guard, the OPP, RCMP, and Akwesasne Mohawk police were also involved in the search.

An autopsy is scheduled for Friday.
