A former elite south-shore soccer coach, who faces two-dozen pedophilia-related charges, has been arrested yet again for violating bail conditions.

Thierry Massimo, 41, of Longueuil, was charged in Quebec court Monday after SQ police officers made an arrest on Saturday in Chambly. The Crown says he should remain behind bars until his trial.

The arrest was made at a soccer game in which some of Massimo's alleged victims were playing. Massimo had been ordered to stay away from minors.

In the woods

Sources told CTV News that one of the players had been contacted by a man who said he would be watching the game on Saturday to pass information on to scouts who could offer major playing opportunities.

The source says the man admitted he wasn't allowed to attend the game, but would watch from the woods and whistle during the match to signal his presence.

The SQ, tipped off by the boy's father, sent several undercover police officers to the game, and the arrest was made.

25 initial charges

Massimo was first arrested in July and faces 25 charges related to the sexual abuse of minors over the past three years. The story came to light after a parent alerted authorities in late June.

Three of the alleged victims were his players, and eight other boys were allegedly lured over the internet.

Massimo was freed on $2,500 bail on condition that he stay away from anyone under the age of 18.

He's been coaching amateur soccer for over a decade in various south-shore soccer leagues and had been well-regarded by league conveners and parents alike.

Coaches are supposed to undergo strict background checks but there wouldn't have been any red flags raised unless the person had a criminal record.
