Crews are working on a very old pipe that collapsed under Peel street downtown.
The pipe dates all the way back to 1866.
The collapse caused the roadway to sink between de Maisonneuve and Ste-Catherine street.
Peel is closed to vehicles between de la Gauchetiere and Rene-Levesque, though sidewalks are still accessible.
The city says the repair work will take a week.
