Construction on the Champlain bridge is going into its next phase this week.

Starting Tuesday Sept. 8, two of the bridge's southbound lanes will be closed at night, from 11 p.m. until 5 a.m.

Construction crews will be maintaining the joints between decks on the bridge.

This project will continue for a full month, at which point crews will start working on the northbound bridge deck.

That side of the bridge will face overnight closures of two out of three lanes from Oct. 13 until Nov. 13.

Drivers are being encouraged to take other bridges, or to use public transit.
