Quebec Education Minister Michelle Courchesne says the wait is nearly over for math teachers at public high schools who have been waiting for the English translation of secondary five math books.

"Those books are available. The school boards need to buy them, but they are available," Courchesne told CTV Montreal's Derek Conlon.

When asked if the English translations were complete, Courchesne replied: "Totally."

But the English Montreal School Board says the promised translations are incomplete. Tom Booth, the board's math consultant, said he has only been able to order three chapters -- the first two chapters of entry level math, and the first chapter of advanced math.

According to Booth, there is nothing available for the technical and scientific math level.

He said the material that is expected to be available to schools by the end of September represents only one month worth of math lessons.

"If we have to wait for that product to show up and we're already on chapter three, but chapter three is not here, that's a possible problem," Booth said.
