Mayor Gerald Tremblay is playing coy about the Grand Prix's return to Montreal.

F1 chief Bernie Ecclestone has already said the return is a sure thing, and there are reports that all three levels of government have signed a deal to bring the race back to Montreal for at least five years.

But despite all the talk, the mayor refuses to let the cat out of the bag.

"Every one seems to be optimistic and we've been optimistic since December 2008 when Bernie Ecclestone phoned me, but we're not going to announce a deal until it is signed," said Tremblay.

The Journal de Montreal says the three levels of government will guarantee Ecclestone and his organization $10 million a year.

The tourist industry would then have to come up with another $5 million a year for the race to return.
