A black bear has been captured and killed near La Tuque, in the Mauricie.

Officials believe it is the bear that attacked a Montreal woman earlier this week.

Alexandrina Gavriloaia was in the woods with her husband on Wednesday when a bear attacked her.

Her husband fought off the bear and put Gavriloaia in a car and tried to drive her to hospital, but crashed en route.

Gavriloaia died of her injuries.

Wildlife officials captured the 175 pound female bear, then euthanised the animal.

They will conduct an autopsy and see if the bear's dental pattern matches the bites inflicted on Gavriloaia.

DNA tests will also be performed.
