Concordia University marked another milestone in the continuing expansion of its downtown campus, as it inaugurated the new John Molson School of Business building Tuesday morning.

Students say they're impressed with the high-tech, 17-storey building, which stands at the southwest corner of Guy St. and de Maisonneuve Blvd.

"We feel like we can compete with the better known business schools," said business student Santosh Pradhan.

With 8000 students, the JMSB is one of the largest business schools in Canada.

"We are a renowned school, and now we have a building to match. Of course it will help us attract students internationally and nationally," said Sanjay Sharma, Dean of the JMSB.

Multi-million dollar facility

The cost of the $120 million building was covered by a $60 million contribution from the Quebec government, combined with private fundraising. The Molson family invested $25 million.

Eric H. Molson, Chairman Emeritus of Molson Coors Brewing Company, said the family is thrilled to be a part of the transformation of the business school.

"We're proud to have this building named after our ancestor, and John Molson would be proud of this great day in the school that bears his name," said Molson.
