The Quebec coroner's office has confirmed that the body discovered Tuesday in a wooded area of Pointe Aux Trembles is that of Natasha Cournoyer.

Cournoyer, a 37-year-old Corrections Canada employee, went missing last Thursday evening after leaving her workplace in Laval.

Montreal police have confirmed that her death has been classified as a homicide.

Blue collar workers found Cournoyer's body late Tuesday morning on a dirt road near Notre Dame St. E. and 36th Ave.

The major crimes unit of the Montreal police department will take over the investigation into Cournoyer's death, and will be in contact with Laval police throughout the investigation.

Montreal police Const. Olivier Lapointe said an autopsy will be completed on Thursday to determine how Cournoyer died.

There were marks of violence on her body.

Anyone with info concerning her death is asked to call Info-Crime at (514) 393-1133.
