As much as 1,500 tonnes of free compost is being given away to Montrealers this weekend at a number of sites around the city.

Made up partly from last year's leaves, officials from the city say the compost is prime-quality.

This is the 14th year the dirt is available at no cost to local residents.

Saint-Michel

Oct. 10 and 11, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Environmental Complex: Corner of Iberville St. at Jarry St.

Cote-des-Neiges-Notre-Dame-de-Grace

Oct. 10, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Kent Park: Corner of Appleton Ave. and Cote-des-Neiges Rd.

Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve

Oct. 19, after 5 p.m.

Eco-quartier Louis-Riel: The chalet at Pierre-Bedard Park

Eco-quartier Hochelaga: Raymond-Prefontaine Arena
