A new book by Montreal-based author Karen Dubrofsky includes some of the best recipes from the nation's chefs. The book is entitled Cooking with Canada's Best.
It's one of the rare books profiling Canadian master chefs and all proceeds from the sale price goes to research into autism.
The book includes delicious delicacies from Executive Chef Steven Leslie, who owns two gourmet restaurants in Montreal including the popular Tavern on the Square in Westmount Square.
Leslie says it's the first time he's heard of recipes from Canada's best chefs being compiled into one book.
He adds: "it's not too often that you see 100 per cent of the proceeds going to charity. That's unheard of."
Dubrofsky says autism research is a worthwhile cause.
"One in 91 children are diagnosed with some form of autism which is terrifying," she said.
"So something needs to be done."
Food for a cause
Dubrofsky has made a habit out of turning food into food for thought.
Her first book, Uniting the Best Chefs in Montreal, raised $700,000 for the oncology ward at the McGill University Health Centre.
