One of Montreal's homicide detectives was represented by his lawyers in court Tuesday to face three counts of fraudulent use of a computer.

Mario Lambert, 42, is accused of passing on information in police databanks to criminals.

To ensure impartiality, a prosecutor has been brought in from Longueuil to handle the case.

Since Lambert is now facing criminal charges, he has be reassigned to desk duty while his major cases have been passed on to other investigators.

Lambert is a high-ranking officer, who most recently was the lead investigator into the murder of Jessica Neilson.

His next court date is scheduled for December 15.

Lambert has yet to make any plea in the case.
