Quebec has begun its information campaign on the swine flu, which is expected to hit the province this fall.

The health department will be sending out self-help guides to every home in the province.

The guides will tell people how to protect themselves from the virus, and how to care for themselves and their families, should they fall ill.

The guides are available now at Quebec's pandemic website.

Most will go to work if sick

Meanwhile a new poll poll suggests one in four people living in Quebec still plan to go to work even if they or someone in their home gets the swine flu.

The survey found nearly 60 per cent of those asked wouldn't take the day off if they were sick.

45 per cent said they work in an office that hasn't made plans to cope with a flu outbreak, and more than 53 per cent haven't changed their habits.

The poll was conducted by a provincial human resources group .

It surveyed 1,000 people by phone in the second half of September.
