Self-proclaimed financial planner Earl Jones will have to wait a while longer for his theft and fraud trial.

The lawyer for the 67-year-old requested another postponement at his Monday morning court date.

Both the crown and defence are still preparing their cases.

Jones was not in court Monday, since the case is still in a very preliminary stage according to his lawyer.

"A case like this takes about two years of police investigation and the newspapers and the journalists expect instant solutions," said Jeffrey Boro. "This is not NCIS. It's a regular court with a file and alleged 161 victims, and you don't meet them all the same day and it takes time."

The next court date in the case will be a hearing on December 4.

At this point Jones is charged with defrauding four people, even though at least 161 people claim they have lost money.

Police are investigating each claim, which may result in new charges.
