After meeting with a 13-year-old West Island boy who reported that he was the victim of an attempted kidnapping in Dollard-des-Ormeaux Monday afternoon, Montreal police say they do not believe that any criminal activity occurred.

"At this point of the investigation there's no reason to conclude that a crime was committed or that an attempted kidnapping was done," said Montreal police Const. Andre Leclerc.

The high school student reported that a man tried to grab him while he was on his way to school around 12:30 p.m. Monday afternoon.

Leclerc said after questioning the teen and collecting information, investigators ruled out the possibility that the reported incident was connected to two other recent kidnapping attempts in Pointe Claire.

"We're still asking the public to report to us any abnormal situation that they may have seen and we will always be verifying that information," he added.

Abduction attempts

Last week, a 13-year-old girl told police she escaped the grip of a man in a rusty red minivan.

He grabbed her near the corner of Duke of Kent and Westbank while she was on her way to school.

Nine days before that, a 12-year-old boy said a man tried to grab him while he was walking home from school, after he got off his school bus on St. Louis at the corner of Marsh.
