An Italian restaurant in Ste. Anne de Bellevue was destroyed early Saturday morning by a raging fire, and firefighters had to establish a perimeter around the building because of a gas leak.
Restaurant Marco, located on Ste. Anne St., became engulfed in flames shortly after the fire started in the basement of the building around 7:45 a.m.
Witnesses told CTV News within an hour there was a small explosion, and the building had partially collapsed.
Firefighters managed to get the flames under control by 10:30 a.m., but the building is a total loss.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
