The body of a man in his 20s was pulled from the St. Lawrence River Sunday morning in Verdun.

A woman walking with her son spotted the body about 9:15 a.m. floating in the water near the intersection of Desmarchais and Lasalle Blvds.

Homicide investigators were sent to the scene where police are treating it as a murder.

While they don't know why the homicide occurred or who the victim is, they know the act occurred fairly recently, because of the state of the body.

An autopsy will have to be performed to determine the cause of death.

Police are asking anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in the area to come forward.
