QUEBEC - He announced plans to quit after just 23 days on the job, but members of his party want him gone even sooner.

The Action democratique du Quebec's youth wing wants Gilles Taillon to leave immediately.

Junior members of the third-place Quebec party say it is in the best interests of the ADQ that Taillon leave by mid-week.

The youth wing passed a motion at a meeting Sunday calling for Taillon's departure, and has since made that letter public.

Taillon says he plans to stay until a replacement is chosen

But the youth say Taillon erred when he accused the party establishment of plotting to derail his leadership after he had been in the job less than a month.
