Montreal Mayor Gerald Tremblay has named two opposition councillors to the executive committee and he has also appointed himself as chairman of the powerful body.
Project Montreal Leader Richard Bergeron and Vision Montreal councillor Lyn Theriault will sit on the committee, which oversees all major projects in the city.
Tremblay announced the shakeup Tuesday morning as he tries to win back public trust amid several police investigations into alleged municipal corruption.
"People were waiting for us to do things differently," he told a news conference at city hall.
"Major reforms were necessary. All city councillors were elected by and for Montrealers and we will be working for them."
Dropped
Luis Miranda and Sammy Forcillo were dropped from the executive committee. Both men's names came up in recent media reports related to alleged city hall scandals.
