It seems as though Montrealers will have wait until January to find out what happens to their municipal tax bills.

Alan Desousa, the new vice-chairman of the executive committee, says he's leaning towards delaying the city's 2010 budget until January.

The budget was supposed to be tabled this month.

January is the latest that provincial law allows a municipality to adopt its annual budget.

The delay would allow the newcomers who were elected on November first to be briefed on the budget work done so far.
