Montreal police are investigating the 28th murder of the year.
The deadly attack happened around 8 p.m. Thursday night near a park in Little Burgundy.
Police and paramedics rushed to the intersection of Coursol and Des Seigneurs when neighbours called 9-1-1 saying they heard what sounded like gunshots.
Police arrived to find the victim lying on the ground, his body riddled with bullets.
According to Constable Olivier Lapointe, the victim "is a 21-year-old man known to police."
"The death was confirmed by paramedics on the scene and he was not taken to hospital," said Lapointe.
