Two people died and two others suffered serious injuries in a road accident involving three cars on Saturday night in Ste. Melanie, in the Lanaudiere region.

A driver heading south on Route Ste. Beatrix lost control of his car at a curve in the road and crashed head-on into an oncoming car.

A third vehicle then crashed into one of the two cars involved in the initial collision.

A 20-year-old male driver and one of his female passengers, 18, were killed in the crash.

The Surete du Quebec is investigating the accident.

Deadly weekend

It has been a deadly weekend on Quebec roads.

Early Saturday morning, two family members were killed and two other people suffered serious injuries in a head-on collision between two cars in Beauharnois, on the South Shore.

Yann De Courcy, 22, and his 18-year-old cousin Alexandre De Courcy-Laplante, died after the car they were in slammed into another vehicle while they were heading east on Edgar-Hebert Blvd. around 3 a.m.

On Friday, an 18-year-old woman was killed and four other teens were injured in a car crash in the Auteuil district of Laval.

She was sitting in the back seat of a car when the vehicle skidded off the road and crashed into a tree on a residential property on Mille-Iles Blvd.
