A 42-year-old man has surrendered to police after an overnight standoff following a domestic dispute at a home in Dorval.

Police were called to the home on Clement Ave. near Herron Rd. shortly after midnight.

When officers arrived on the scene, they discovered a woman lying on the street.

The male suspect, who was accompanied by a friend in his 50s, barricaded himself inside the home.

He was armed with a crossbow, said Montreal police Const. Andre Leclerc.

Following hours of negotiations, the man surrendered and was arrested around 6:15 a.m.

His friend was questioned, but was released shortly after.

The woman suffered only slight injuries, but was taken to hospital as a precaution.

The suspect could face domestic violence charges, as well as charges for possession of a weapon and negligent use of a weapon.
