The minimum wage in Quebec is going up by 50 cents to $9.50 an hour next May.

The provincial government says more than 320,000 workers will benefit from the third increase in the minimum wage in three years.

Quebec will be tied with Newfoundland and Labrador for the country's third-highest minimum wage behind Ontario and Nunavut.

As of May 1, the hourly wage rate for Quebec restaurant workers and others who receive tips will also go up -- by 25 cents an hour to $8.25.
