A massive power failure affected many parts of Quebec on Tuesday morning.

At 9:30 a.m., something tripped the protection system at Albane Substation in northern Quebec.

It knocked out power to several municipalities including Montreal, the south shore, Quebec City and Vaudreuil-Dorion.

Some 200,000 customers were affected at the peak of the outage, but Hydro-Quebec has now restored power to most customers.
