About 100 protestors are gathering outside Jean Charest's office Saturday to appeal to the provincial government for a public inquiry into the province's construction industry.

The organizers, members of student-led group Mouvement anticorruption say the government's inaction on this issue is deplorable.

The group said it feels a police investigation into corruption in the construction business is not enough to resolve the major problems inside that industry.

A recent survey has revealed that 81 per cent of Quebec residents are in favour of a public inquiry into the matter.

"Refusing to hold an inquiry that nearly everyone in Quebec wants, Jean Charest is protecting the corrupt, who are literally stealing billions of dollars in public funds," said Quebec solidaire spokesperson Amir Khadir.

PQ members Louise Beadoin, Bertrand St-Arnaud and Carole Poirier were also on hand at the march. The PQ has launched an online petition calling for an inquiry. To date, about 32,000 people have added their names to the petition.
