Police are trying to piece together how and why two Laval roommates went missing in the early morning hours Wednesday.

Vincent Lamoureux, 20, and Hugo Pereira, 22, were last seen in at Le Diable Vert bar on St. Denis St. before 3 a.m. Family and friends have not heard from them since.

Pereira was speaking with a woman inside the bar at 2 a.m. before he and Lamoureux left the premises to return to Laval. A few minutes later, Pereira sent a text to the woman, who told him to pick her up outside.

"She went outside, but Hugo never showed up," said his stepfather, Bernard Sauve.

They may have left the establishment in a four-door 2007 black Acura TL, licence plate 861 ZBD.

Some three hours later, at 6 a.m., Pereira's phone received a text message from Lamoureux's phone, saying, "Where are you?" according to a police trace.

Pereira never responded, and no one has seen or heard from either man since.

"We're worried, and we don't understand," Lamoureux's uncle Real Lebeouf told CTV News.

Roommates don't understand

Both men are firefighters-in-training, and their roommate Philippe Ouellet says Hugo never ever turns off his phone.

"Both of them at 3 a.m., their cell phone was completely closed, and that's not normal," said Ouellet.

Their car is another piece of the puzzle.

Police say they have received multiple calls about their missing black 2007 Acura TL Sport, in some cases as far away as Quebec City, but so far every tip has identified the wrong car.

Police, and a team of 200 volunteers have been searching the streets Montreal and Laval, but so far don't have any evidence of wrongdoing.

"For now it's a disappearance since we have no clues that a crime was committed," said Montreal police officer Daniel Lacoursiere.

Identification

Lamoureux is a white, French-speaking man, who is five-feet-eight, 160 lbs., with short brown hair and blue eyes.

He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a green V-neck sweater, a black Energie-brand jacket and a fur cap.

Lamoureux is a junior A hockey player, and a certified firefighter. His family says he doesn't do drugs or gamble.
