Unionized lecturers at the University of Montreal helda four-hour walkout Monday afternoon.

During the half-day strike, they picketed outside the main school building on Edouard-Montpetit Blvd.

The school will remained with most services will be offered as usual.

A step back, union says

Union president Francis Légaré is condemning the university, saying the deal the teachers are being offered is a step back.

The union is threatening to step up pressure tactics and isn't ruling out a general strike.

The sticking points are class sizes, salaries and retirement.

The 2,500 lecturers have been without a contract since August.
