The McGill Redmen were ungracious hosts to the Trois-Rivieres Patriotes in game two of their three game Quebec League men's hockey final Friday night at McConnell arena. The Redmen came into the midpoint of the series with a one game lead, after defeating the Patriotes 3-2 in Trois-Rivieres on Wednesday.

Bolstered by a crowd that filled the arena to the rafters, the Redmen came out flying and trounced the Patriotes with a 7-4 win Friday.

McGill's first line led the way with 12 points topped by the two goals and three assists of the game's first star Francis Verrault-Paul.

"We got our experience from last year from when we won and we went to the national championship," said Verrault-Paul. "This year we want to improve and I think we played smart tonight, and that's why we won that game."

Fellow Redman Andrew Wright is impressed with his teammate.

Oh man he's a warrior," said Wright. "Last game, [he] hurt his knee, got a split lip and everything he still keeps going to come back, and finishing his check and everything."

Coach Jim Webster agrees with Wright's assessment.

"What he did last game, playing with his injury, and dagger in the heart third goal, winning goal in Trois-Rivieres," said Webster. "All the teams they focus on him. They're so mad at him that he's so good and so intense but that's him. He's good."

Verrault-Paul finished the season tied as Canada's leading goal scorer and now has eight in the post-season.

The next step for the McGill team is the National championship in two weeks.

It will be the third time in five years the Redman have made the championship, having never

They will face either Western or Lakehead, who still have to meet in the Ontario championship Queen's Cup.
