Thousands of Montrealers are expected to brave the Irish weather and celebrate St. Patrick's Day at the 186th parade Sunday.

The annual celebration is the third largest in North America and the longest consecutively running parade in the world.

Pipe bands, Irish dancers and CTV personalities, including Mutsumi Takahashi, Lori Graham and Randy Tieman, will be on hand to join in the festivities.

The parade begins at noon and runs east along Ste. Catherine St. from Fort St. to Phillips Square.

This year's United Irish Socities Queen is Katherine McKendy, who will preside over the parade. McKendy is a 24-year-old Montreal resident, currently studying medicine at McGill University.

The weather feels like it does in winter on the Emerald Isle: 2 Celsius, windy and showers.

Montreal police are warning people not to drink and drive, but rather make alternative arrangements, such as using public transit.
