Funeral services were held Sunday for Dave Lockhart, a man who was stabbed to death on his way to church in LaSalle last Saturday.

Known as a Good Samaritan, singer and former football star, Lockhart died of his injuries after two men jumped out of a car on Lafleur Ave. and Jean-Milot St. and stabbed the 28-year-old man.

He had just broken up a fight prior to the attack, reports have indicated.

Christopher Levers, 28, was charged Monday with second-degree murder. Kamar Dyett, 20, has been charged with obstructing justice. They both return to court April 12.

Lockhart's funeral was held at the New Life Seventh Day Adventist Church in LaSalle.

A vigil was held Wednesday near the site of Lockhart's death, and so far, over 1,300 people have joined two Facebook groups dedicated to his memory.

Hopefully, the youngsters who have heard of this story will take it as a WAKE-UP CALL. I hope they can now see how horrible it truly is to END A LIFE. I doubt this person intended to kill, but if he did, God will deal with him....
Young people often think they are invincible, but these occurances are a sad reminder that no one is. I have heard nothing but postive things about Dave, so please, please do not let his death be in vain.

He was and forever will be a great son, brother, uncle and friend. His impact on the lives of so many is just now being seen. I will always remember how he changed my life...he will be missed, but never forgotten.

The funeral was beautiful and touching. SO many people showed up and we were more than 60 people who watched the service on the internet because we could not be present.

Hmmmm, killed over a cell phone and a fight break-up by two losers. It doeant take much to end a life. I sure hope these 2 end up with some hard time, and NO PITY!!!! Fry them if you can!

People who kill other people are usually XXXXX. This is why I think that people like this who killed him should be sent to an exile island. Forget jail and have taxpayers pay for keeping you. You are gone from this place.

Capital punishment an option we use to entertain years ago.

Well can see and confirm, that you cannot read. Dave was trying to stop a fight between two people and one of the guys, turned on him. He was a very good person and well involved with the community, in trying to stop violence amongst youths.
It had nothing to do with drugs (he doesn't take any), not owing money (because he was a very hard worker at one of the montreal hospitals) and he leaves behind a wonderful women.

Have a little respect for his family and friends, during this hard and difficult time; and know your facts, before you comment or make statements. His friends and family to read and follow the news!

Cath, if you don't know the reason behind this tragic and senseless death, don't comment on it. The title says Good Samaritan and you type about drugs, owing money, etc.. He intervened in a fight,peacemaker that he is, and his life was taken away for that. My deepest condolences to the Lockhart family

Cath, if you read the story posted above you'll notice how it says he broke up a fight, this didn't have anything to do with drugs, money, or a love triangle. Unfortunately it had to do with him wanting to help stop a fight (over a cell phone I do believe) and because of his willingness to help that cost him his life.

He was definitely targeted for some reason, this was not random. Usually drugs, owing money or a love triangle, etc. Sympathies to his family.
