More than 700,000 Canadian students connected – and sang – with schools around the world Monday.

Celebrated the first Monday of May each year since 2005, Music Monday has Canadian students singing the same song at the exact same time.

Only this year, there was a twist.

Thanks to videoconferencing, the students of Riverview Elementary in Verdun connected to classrooms all over the world.

"We got to talk to other countries, and see how they enjoyed it," said one student.

They belted out their tune at 11 o'clock sharp – the trouble being that not every country can participate, due to the time difference.

"We… had an Indonesian school who wanted to do it, but the kids would be up at 10:00 at night singing, so it didn't work, but just to think how far this can go," said music teach Kathleen Walshe-Turcot.
