A local sausage store is showing love for the Montreal Canadiens during the playoffs by renaming some of its most popular selections after the team's players.

William J. Walter Sausages, a specialty shop at the Jean Talon Market, is proudly continuing a postseason tradition.

Each player's name is bestowed on a sausage that best matches his style, name, or background.

"To give you an example, Halak is their inferno sausage -- their spicy, spicy one. They say it's because he's on fire these days," explained CTV Montreal reporter Aphrodite Salas.

The chicken sausage has been named for Benoit Pouliot -- which is close to "poulet", the French word for chicken.

Michael Cammalleri has been honoured with the hot Italian sausage, while the shop's Mexican sausage now boasts Scott Gomez's name.

"It's a running gag, we do it every single year, every single time (they are in the

playoffs)," said manager Audrey-Anne Cote.

"People like it. People are surprised and happy."

Ste. Catherine St. closing for Game 6

As Habs fans gear up for Game 6 of the Eastern Conference semi-final game at the Bell Centre, Montreal police are shutting down a one-kilometre stretch of Ste. Catherine St.

It will be closed between Guy St. and University St. as of 6 p.m. for safety reasons, police said.

Officers on the scene will assess the situation postgame and determine when to reopen the street.
