Montreal police have used their website to publish a series of photos of people suspected of looting downtown businesses after last week's Canadiens' victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The Habs defeated the Penguins Wednesday night to advance to the Eastern Conference finals.

Tens of thousands of people partied on the streets around the Bell Centre peacefully after the game, but shortly before midnight, a few dozen revellers began hurling bottles, smashing windows and looting stores on Ste. Catherine St.

Police officers discharged tear gas and dispersed the crowd with batons.

In total, about 50 people have been arrested.

On Friday, the police department issued a press release asking people with photos or videos that might help identify additional suspects to submit them via email.

Since the photos have been published online, three people turned themselves in, while two others were picked up by police.

The suspects may be charged with breaking and entering, mischief or possession or stolen goods.
