A 46-year-old man will appear in court Monday afternoon to be officially accused of killing his roommate.

Police are recommending second-degree murder charges in the seventeenth homicide of the year in Montreal.

The body of the victim, also a 46-year-old man, was discovered Sunday afternoon when neighbours complained about a foul odour emanating from a Park Extension apartment on St. Roch, near Durocher.

Authorities are still waiting for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death, although police said there were evident signs of violence on the body.
