The term "godfather" was being bandied about Saturday by the leader of the Action Democratic du Quebec.

Speaking to delegates at an ADQ meeting in Granby, Gerard Deltell said Premier Jean Charest was acting like the godfather of the Quebec Liberal party.

Deltell continued his attacks on the Liberals for not, among many things, calling an inquiry into the construction industry.

Meanwhile, members of the Quebec Liberal party reacted strongly to Deltell's comment. Some called for the ADQ leader to issue an apology.

The Liberal party is holding a general council meeting in Levis this weekend where a lone liberal delegate raised the topic of an inquiry into the province's construction industry.

No one seconded the motion, however, putting a kybosh on the proposition.

Charest has repeatedly turned down calls for a public inquiry, preferring to let police investigate the allegations.
