It's Your Move
George Balcan was the host of It's Your Move.

It's Your Move was played before a live studio audience, and spiced the familiar game of charades by adding a time factor, in auction form. The two competing teams bid for the opportunity to enact - and, hopefully, to guess - an unknown phrase. The team offering the lower bid was awarded the floor, and one member acted out the charade while the other team member tried to solve it within the time put forth in the initial bid. If the team failed, the prize was awarded to the opponent. The winning team retained its championship until defeated. However, champions were limited to a ten-game tenure.
Paul Hanover hosted a weekday afternoon edition which debuted September 14, 1964 on CTV and a weekly nighttime edition which debuted October 19, 1964.
Sidney M. Cohen re-developed the series with creators Art Baer and Ben Joelson and the show was revived in 1974, produced again in Montreal. The new series was emceed by George Balcan for 1 season before Paul Hanover's return as host. The announcer, as for many CFCF shows, was Nick Hollinrake.
In this episode, George Balcan is the host as current champions Louis Kohn and Lily Yesovitch face off against newcomers Maureen Katz and John Wildeman.

I was on this show in the 60's recorded in Manhattan..RiceRroni was the sponsor...is there any possible way to get a copy of the tape?
Jim Monaghan
Did anyone ever get a response as to wether tapes still exist of It's Your Move? I was on in the mid 70s when George Balcan was the MC. I was paired with Sabrina Stoutjesdyk and came within a second of winning the grand prize after 10 games. In fact our losing moment was used as a clip at the beginning of every show and commercial for well over a year.
EDITOR'S NOTE: We have old tapes (and film) of some shows, but they are not well-catalogued.

Hi, my husband Marty Shrier was a guest on "Its your Move" around l974, 75, 76. He won a CharBQ, a stereo cabinet and something else. We would love to be able to get a copy of that show. Please let us know if it is possible.
Louis Kohn
CFCF has a loyal following. I heard from many people, including some from Florida, informing me that they saw the clip on the 6 PM News and on your website. I also reconnected with Lily, who I had not seen since the February 22, 1976 taping.
Happy 50th Anniversary

I was a contestant with George Balcan September 8, 1975 (show #5001), September 9 (#5002) & September 10 (#5003).
And again on November 5, 1977 (show #7049, 7051 & 7052) with Paul Hanover.
My winnings (cash & prizes) on these episodes were numerous.
Wishing you a HAPPY 50th & many more.

I knew I had seen you sometime before we officially met.

True, I am not from Montreal, but your station has shown other parts of Canada some interesting game shows like the one on this page, and other ones hosted by Paul Hanover on the CTV network(Such as "Showdown", "Pay Cards!" and "Celebrity Dominoes"), plus the syndicated series of "Going Places" with the late Mike Darow, and "The New/$40,000 Chain Reaction" with Geoff Edwards.
Happy 50th CFCF Television!

As Lili's daughter, I have been hearing about this for years. I randomly stumbled upon the footage, immediately called my parents and had a good laugh. I would LOVE to see the rest of the shows!

I am getting a good laugh at photos of the game shows from the early 70’s for I worked as a researcher on It’s Your Move, Pay Cards, Know Your Sports, And a few more. Great flashbacks and Memories!
Happy Birthday,

It's a small world: I used to babysit for Maureen Katz.
