Montreal AM Live was a TV talk show with a difference: viewer participation!
Every day people could telephone the host and talk to the guest they were watching on their screen.
In this episode from Nov. 17, 1992, host Leslie Roberts talked to the famous Ted Zeigler, known to millions as Johnny Jellybean.
Zeigler discussed life in the dawn age of television, what it was like working with Mr. Chips (Bill Brown), and talks to Bill Brown's sister-in-law.

I remember the jingle for Puffed Grass.
"Puffed Grass, it's Puffed Grass, chocked full of vitamins and cholorophyll too. What's good for Bossie, (Mooooo!) Is good for me and you. Puffed Grass!"
Occasionally Johnny would show up in this huge ten gallon (20 gallon?) hat and lament, "You'll nver know what lonesome is, until you get to herdin' cows"

wow...this takes me way back......memories thank you thank you...the "squawk box"..."oh when the bands come a marching...(shut uo) "... did Mama really bake him a nice apple pie???...lol...and did Johnny have someone actually "steal his bowtie"..?...thanks again CTV :)

As a pre-schooler (circa 1962)I was one of the kids on "Romper Room". Johnny Jellybean, taped in the same studio immediately following Romper Room, so if you were lucky enough, you could stick around and watch the taping (from a distance!). I also remember making "magic candy" on Magic Tom's Brithday Party. As a child, I was a frequent visitor to the Ogilvy Avenue studios.

There were a few men - usually the stagehands - who played 'Morrie, the Mailman.' I happened to marry one of them - Peter Wright. We were together for 32 years, until Peter passed away in April 2009. So many wonder pictures and wonderful memories!! Here's to 50 years!!!

Stanley Peters was "Johnny Jellybean's" side-kick on the program and I recall that they were buddies off-screen as well. He was such a sweet kid. Stan's family and ours have been friends - but more like relatives - for four generations. As teens, Stanley and I were into all kinds of fun together. His nickname was "Caes...ar", and he kept our group in stitches all the time. Sorry. I don't have photos available. Stan and his wife and son now live in B.C.
