There may finally be a break in a high-profile cold case: the disappearance of a 16-year-old girl more than a decade ago.

Julie Surprenant went missing in 1999 from near her home north of Laval, and for years the investigation went nowhere.

Now, Surete du Quebec officers are interviewing a woman who says she met a dying man who confessed to murdering Surprenant.

The woman says she worked at a hospital where sexual predator Richard Bouillon was treated for cancer before he died in 2006.

She's come forward with information, saying that Bouillon said Surprenant's body had been dumped near a church close to the Mille Iles River.

Police say before they start looking for a body, they need to make sure that the new information is credible.

Still, an entire team spent Tuesday close to the site where Julie Surprenant was last seen more than 11 years ago.
