MONTREAL - Hundreds of people visiting the Olympic Stadium to admire the latest in new cottages were given an unexpected taste of the great outdoors as a fire forced the evacuation of the structure just prior to noon today.

Flames burst out from the hood of a deep fryer at the ground level of the stadium on Pierre de Coubertin.

The fire started near the ticket booths at a fast food kiosk called The Grill.

Five hundred people attending the Cottage and Country Homes Show were forced to exit the building as 50 firefighters arrived on the scene to control the flames. They were able to extinguish the blaze before it spread.

No injuries or significant damage resulted from the fire and firefighters left the scene approximately 30 minutes after they arrived.
